Wanderer Update: It has been three months since my post Intro to a New Chapter was written, and that was while I was still at my demanding job simply day-dreaming of the time I would be free from the corporate world and have enough courage to escape. While that job gave me everything I wanted materially, it did not give me the satisfaction at the end of the day I hoped it would. It was making me ill from the stress, gave me anxiety up the roof, and drained the energy I had to enjoy the rest of my day. I decided to turn the page for a new chapter of my life, follow my passions, and fill my future with the enjoyment of my youth.
Fast forward three months, I am free from that restraining job and free to do as I choose. I am currently in school, working as a barista by the sea, and preparing myself for the adventurous lifestyle of a van traveller. I am not alone in this journey, I have my SO and my spoiled cat Bali who will become our adventurous van cat. Now, you may be thinking, what made you want to pursue this lifestyle? Well, let me give you a little background for now and stay tuned for more detailed posts about this in the future.
After a year and a half of watching too many “Tiny Living” Series on HGTV and YouTube, I knew that going tiny was something that I could most definitely work my way up to doing. The idea of having just the basics, and leaving behind that materialistic point of thinking really drew me in. It also had me thinking about how I could someday accomplish this intriguing lifestyle. If you think about it, most of the items that we have in our homes are not needed, all we need is the bare minimum to survive and maybe a few extras. There are some people who can’t live without these things and some that are willing to really downsize and be a simplistic being. Whether or not you are one of those people, the important thing is that you are happy with the way you live life.
I thoroughly researched all the different ways that you can go tiny for example; owning a real tiny house, RV Living, Travel Trailer Living, living in a Car, or Van Dwelling. After educating myself, I decided that the first step into this lifestyle would be Van Dwelling. I tend to move quickly with my decisions so, at the nearest opportunity, I bought my first van. Her name is Bertha and she is a 1990 Chevy G-20 Series Sportsvan Edition. With life happening in-between, the van build is being completed in less than one month and will need to be done when our lease is up on October 15th.
With so much to complete and so little time, every spare moment is being put towards the build as well as my school work and making coffee for money. I plan on sharing so much with you all very soon with a variety of topics and the journey of the van build. Due to the short deadline, it is very hard for me right now to take time, sit down, and write out a finished post when I can barely keep my eyes from being so tired. Your patience and support mean so much, and I can’t wait to fully share my journey with you very soon.
It will be a short time till we are reunited with more posts and updates. Until then, please let me know down in the comments what you would like to know to know in upcoming posts and any questions you may have. I look forward to hearing from you and your thoughts.
